Ready for the long weekend

My stormy Thursday outfit. Today I threw on my comfy Spell and the Gypsy Collective, Kombi maxi skirt one of my personal favorite graphic tees by Trunk Ltd,  my new obsession cowrie necklace by Ouroboros Designs and lots of turquoise accents. Been starting my summer hair routine of no hot styling, (blow dry and flat iron) rocking curls, braids and waves. The lawn guy started cutting the lawn then the rain started, I went outside to enjoy the smell that reminds me of my dad. My father had a lawn service and would always have that fresh cut lawn smell. Got to enjoy taking in the lake view and pool while I can.

Some of my fave turquoise accessories. Product details:

Cowrie Shell Necklace, Siren necklace by Ouroboros Designs available on Free People website.

Walmart choker, turquoise stacked silver ring from Rocksbox you can use the code MELISSASBFF10 for your free trial moth of Rocksbox.  Earrings came with a turquoise squash inspired necklace set I found on ebay over the summer.  Raw turquoise bracelet with feather charm and the above turquoise with silver fringe necklace are handmade by Fawning In Love on etsy. Then the african turquoise beaded bracelet is from Whiskey + Bone also another amazing artisan made piece.  They are all laid out on top of one of my favorite Sand Cloud towels, the XL baja beach blanket you can use my code CR8TIVEWANDERLUST25 for 25% off at www.sandcloudtowels.com. Almost forgot my cute Feather hair band or necklace is from Tara Lynn's Boutique last summer/fall, check my side bar with favorite shops links for promo code for Tara Lynn's Boutique. Also I have lots of other awesome shops and codes or links in the section located on the right in my sidebar.

Ready or not...

I'm sure I am not alone when I say this long weekend came at the perfect time. As we prepare for summer break I am just anxious for the first day of summer to begin. We have so many crazy changes going on here in our home and I'm ready to dive in and tackle a lot of the stuff planned so I can enjoy the summer.

We are moving and it is really bittersweet, I hate to leave our home that have we made our own and lived in for over ten years now. We were so excited when we found this house and they accepted our offer. We closed and the same day we're here ripping down walls, pulling up flooring, removing mirrors from the walls, and scrapping popcorn off the ceiling. We took this house apart and made it our own. There wasn't a room or surface we didn't touch or change. It was a new experience for us because since we got married we had lived in apartments, then we bought our first home which was brand new construction and we were able to pick out things like cabinets and flooring but it wasn't like purchasing a home and basically totally changing the layout.

Our current home is on a huge lake so we don't have neighbors behind us which in Florida it is common to have house right on top of one another but this area is not like that. We also don't have to pay an association fee. That is the best because the newer homes are all in these little cookie cutter gated communities with 3/4 style homes that all look the same. We have a pool and jacuzzi with a nice covered patio, sliding doors all around the pool area and cabana bathroom, huge master bedroom with walk in closet, dressing area and on suite bathroom. The other bedrooms are across the other side of the house which is awesome. My favorite spot inside the house because really the outside of the house is my all time fave but inside when we basically gutted our home we redid the entire kitchen. Nothing but the huge sliding window overlooking the pool and lake stayed the same. I custom designed our entire kitchen myself. I changed the lay out, tore out walls, moved the pantry closet and fridge, picked out the cabinets, molding, lighting, granite, trims, appliances, backsplash, and paint color. It was the best room to design because it was so much more then just painting and decorating.

I'm not afraid of color and taking design risks. Interior and architectural design are my passion. My design style is very eclectic and bold but I still have a very traditional style with a love for antiques, vintage, traveled kind of world charm design. We have laminate wood flooring, I wish they had the tile that looks like wood because in Florida with how hot it is year round tile is energy efficient but I we have had tile and I just don't love it outside the bathroom, rugs or carpeting is out of the question. I have allergies and I'm a neat freak, I have cleaning people who come every two weeks (best choice ever and very inexpensive) I clean daily and when they come they tell me my house is their favorite because they don't have to really bust their behinds. They mostly come to clean outside patio, do the windows, fans, dusting, deep cleaning, and bathrooms I don't scrub shower doors lol. I have a squeegee but that's it, I use it after every shower to keep them decent then the cleaning people scrub them.  Laminate was our final choice because we rented a beautiful home between selling our first home and buying this home, that house had laminate and it was easy to clean and looked nice. Also we didn't plan to keep it forever if we decided to stay long term we planned to replace it with real wood or the tile wood designs out now.

I love wall decor, and I'm also obsessed with painting. I have painted the rooms in this house multiple times. The only rooms that have stayed the same color are the kitchen, hallway, and office. Every other room has been multiple colors. I love a bold accent wall, iron accents, lighting is very important, an area rug that is easy to clean, pillows lots and lots of pillows lol. My hubby hates pillows and I have so many, I also change the pillows with the seasons along with my dining table decor and the island in the kitchen changes decor seasonally also.

Bohemian decor, Asian, Moroccan, Indonesian, and southwestern type decor are all things I love. I love calming serene colors for bedrooms and bathrooms, then I am not afraid to play with accent walls and even have done a very vintage Tuscan feel faux finish in our family room that I will miss. We will be split up for 7-9 months at least and I'm going to be renting something for my girls and I. I plan to pack most of the decor we are keeping for placing in a storage pod till we move up with my husband. For here I'm only keeping beds, one dresser per person, sofa, chair, and deciding on dining table or just stools depends on if where I rent has a little eat in area or island. It will be weird for me to live somewhere I can't paint or don't go all out decorating. I'm sure I will end up taking one of those trips to Target and buying little things to decorate or dress up the place some but don't want to go overboard since I will have a storage pod filled with decor.

With moving I also have my oldest daughter who now has a car and drives herself around, preparing for her senior year of high school and all the craziness that goes with that. Expenses galore, lots of events and different things that are happening for senior year, collage apps and essays, cap and gown, prom, senior trip, grad bash, then she wants a job but I am planning on once our home sells spending at least 2-4 weeks where we are moving to help my husband get settled, enjoy our summer together and really getting to know the area some since we will be calling it home very soon. We have so many changes ahead but I'm excited to see what is to come. I'm a firm believe on if something is meant to be it just happens. I have wanted to move for 7-8 years out of the area we live in, I have lived in south Florida for over 32 years and I'm ready for a change.  Since we kind of put that wanting to move energy out there and really all agreed it was something the entire family would like to do, because I really talked it about this with my girls too. It's their life also and I know moving is scary especially as a kid cause it's so unknown, and unfamiliar but we really have become a family that loves to travel together, we really enjoy being on the road, seeing new places, and I see how it kind of energizes and invigorates you so we all agreed it would be a welcome change.

I'm most excited about being only an hour drive out of Florida. We take many many road trips and would take even more if it wasn't a 6-7 hour drive just to get out of our state. Once your out of Florida it doesn't feel bad. Also we have most of our closest friends that have also moved out of state, it is going to be so nice to have friends and family closer to us and be able to see them during the holidays and summertime. We will be taking many camper RV style road trips in the years ahead, and hoping to buy a vacation home in the mountains of our own.

With all the excitement and also the bittersweet moments ahead, I have been very emotional. Watching my girls grow up, seeing my first born who has basically grown up with me start driving, getting a car, winning awards for her amazing talents and grades, becoming a police explorer, cheering and now soon to be graduating and going off to college is insane. Uttering the words I'm turning 40, crazy. Lol. I feel like I was just 25 then 30 now 40! Omg it is flying by. I couldn't be more proud of our girls. Both our girls have been so easy, I have been so lucky to have to kids who have placed into the gifted class in their school, and they have always been above level. My youngest is reading on a 9th grade level in 3rd grade. It's insane, she took her reading rest and she is off the chart for testing in elementary level because she is already reaching above middle school and into high school. She scored super high on her yearly state testing and my oldest got an amazing score on her SAT. She finished her middle school math in 6th grade so 7-8 grade she was taking high school math, which made it easier for her because she started high school with 2 math credits and 1 English credit. She will be graduating with college credits and could have gotten her associates degree but she really wanted to focus on her AP and Honor classes to keep her GPA high for applying to colleges or for scholarships. Let me tell you mom's, prepare yourself for lots of emotions and frustrations, because it just keeps getting more and more hectic and harder. I'm lucky my oldest is so well behaved and we have such a close relationship, more like sisters then mother daughter, but she is always honest with me, tells me about everything, I go to concerts with her, weekend festivals, we take trips together, and she is a really good kid. I think of how I was when I was her age and just thankful she isn't doing a lot of the stuff I was at her age lol:

I have to say I'm a little sad, anxious, excited, scared, and ready to take on whatever life has in store for us. I cry at every award ceremony, dance, field trip, report cards, when they bring home art work or something they made, the thought of packing lol, and dreading the day we walk out the front door handing our keys over to someone else, then driving off to the unknown. It is the unknown though that has me so excited at the same time. I'm ready to do things I have been dreaming of for years, travel, start fresh, meet new people but most of all to watch my girls become the amazing women they are meant to be. Thanks for listening to my story and letting me venting some on here. I will be keeping you up to date on my progress and where I'm at in the process. Can't wait to share my adventures with everyone and going to have lots of new inspiration all around me.

Peace love and light always xoxo

Boho Gypsea Beach Vibes

Bohemian Gypsea Beach Vibes

When styling this outfit I was looking for pieces that would be inspired by our current moving situation. It is bittersweet to leave the area I have lived most my life. For years my wanderlust soul and heart has been craving change. My ultimate dream is to end up in the mountains one day but for now I want to be away from the city, traffic and hustle bustle. We are currently packing and preparing to list our home that I love, that we bought ten years ago and gutted to make it our dream home. Lake view, pool, all new interior, and finally have it designed and decorated how I have wanted it. As I mentioned above I have wanted to move for a long time now so I'm super excited and can't wait for a new start. I'm also sad to leave our home.

When shopping for my summer wardrobe I have had beach style on my mind. I love bohemian styles, vintage vibes and rocker, edgy inspired pieces.  I wanted to kind of refresh my own personal style by adding some more beachy vibes since we will be living on the beach. Yes, we currently live in the heart of South Florida. We are 20 minutes from Miami Beach, and Ft. Lauderdale beach, which are some of the most popular beaches in Florida but I am moving to a more relaxed laid back beach town. I stuck with my bohemian style skirts I love, graphic tops, sandals, wedges, shell and gem stone jewelry, and lots of light weight easy to wear styles.  I have plans to color my signature purple hair blonde at the roots and leave the purple on the ends like I had it a few years back.  I will be 40 in August so I joked with my family that it is about time I tone down my hair but honestly it has nothing to do with my age, I get bored with hair color and I'm always changing it since it is one thing we can change easily then if you don't love it you can always dye it back or even cut it lol.

This outfit is a really soft cozy sloppy joe, as Spell calls them, which is Australian for sweatshirt.  I ordered a L to have a looser off the shoulder fit.  It slightly falls off one shoulder slightly and is so soft. I considered cutting the neckline but my Spell pieces are so treasured by me don't want to accidentally mess it up since I love the top so much.  I do however cut a lot of my own pieces like graphic tees and denim pieces.  Being a creative artsy person I have always loved cutting, sewing, and adding patches or fabric to pieces I own.  Before ripped and distressed jeans were the trend I was buying my jeans at the thrift store and using scissors, razors and graters to distress my own.  Key word in the phrase is I was buying items at the thrift store, I normally do all my cutting and other creative work to pieces I buy for under $10 not a brand new Spell sweatshirt.  It is a blush tone that is amazing for summer time and the graphic is beautiful, especially with this Mahiya Anita Skirt.

My skirt is a long time fave I had been wanting but was waiting to save up the money to purchase. Not working full time anymore and with so many expenses with my girls, school, house, health and moving etc (the list can go on and on lol)  I was waiting to sell some of my older pieces to use the extra cash for summer clothes for my girls and I. I made sure to save every dime and then made a list of items I have been inspired by, loved and wanted for some time. As soon as I saw the Spell & the Gypsy Collective, Sunset Riders Sloppy joe in Blush this Anita skirt by Mahiya Leather popped into my head. I was like omg that skirt I have wanted is perfect for this, they will match amazing and it was exactly the stroll on the beach in the evening look or vibes I was picturing in my mind. I tend to day dream about perfect outfits for our different trips, adventures and life in general, that is the stylist in me.  I took the plunge before Mother's Day and got it.  I had the skirt in my cart already because several times I had gone to purchase it along with a couple of other pieces from their amazing clothing collection, but I would always end up putting it off hoping it didn't sell out before I was able to buy it with no guilt.  Mother's day was the best time to get it since it would be one of my gifts, plus I had so many pieces I was imagining styling with this skirt.  I am so happy I finally purchased and only wish I had done it sooner.

I have to tell you all the Anita skirt from Mahiya is one of my favorite pieces I own. This skirt is the most amazing colors and the pattern is beautiful. It has a patch work style look with beautiful shades of blush, ivory, blue, coral and green. I love the elastic waist, tassel tie drawstring, and then the high low design with ruffled bottom. The fabric is amazing and I have to say the quality is wonderful. Since I had never purchased any items from them before I wasn't sure how the clothes would be, I have followed them for a long time and always loved their leather pieces but when they first started posting clothing I was amazed at how beautiful the collection was.  I am so glad I went with this skirt because the fabric is incredible quality, the design is beautiful and overall the skirt is made really good.  It didn't arrive with any snags, pulls in the fabric, strings all over, or issues.  As soon as I opened it and took it out of the tissue paper I could tell just touching it how well made it is. I can't wait to order some more pieces from Mahiya Leather and I'm super excited for their new collection coming out soon. They have a purple color way in their new styles I love and the other colors I have seen look amazing too.  If you have wanted to order something from their clothing and haven't yet I am here to tell you don't wait.  I know that this skirt is almost sold out and they have a dress, mini skirt and lots of other cute pieces available now that all look good together, you can basically style almost all their pieces together.  Thank you Mahiya for designing some amazing bohemian styles
because I don't know about all of you but I am always looking for new brands that have amazing boho luxe or chic designs but are high quality. You will be seeing a lot of this skirt this summer on my social media and blog.  You can follow them @Mahiya_Leather on IG and Twitter for all the latest leather and fashion styles they have available as well as word on their highly anticipated new collection coming very soon.

My necklace is a beautiful beach inspired cowrie shell design, it has a turquoise stone in the center, beautiful beading between the cowrie shells to break up the shell design, then this amazing metal pendant that really makes it look like one of a kind design. I own one other vintage cowrie necklace with a tassel round pendant in silver I got off Etsy but this one has such an amazing high end look and feel. It is designed by Ouroboros Designs and currently they have a couple pieces available exclusively on Freepeople.com. Hoping to purchase the matching bracelet and want to get a couple other pieces off their own personal site. I will add all the links below.

I hope you enjoy my outfit I styled for evening and late night strolls on the beach. Planning to wear this to watch the sunset and cuddle up with my man, and girls. Hope Tuesday was good to you all and sending lots of peace love and light to y'all.

~Melissa xoxo

Rocker Chic and Boho Chic Affordable Fall Outfit Trends

Fall Boho Chic Trend

I am always on Pinterest looking for outfit ideas and inspiration, I will find a few outfit ideas I love and then I try to find similar items to style the same look for less. I have a couple I am working on and excited to have found many pieces that are similar to the photo. Can't wait to share with my fellow bargain shoppers and bohemian style lovers.  I always like to add my own twist and style to these outfits, whether with a different style top, shoes or accessories.  We all have our own individual style and it is always fun to rock your own style with some of the newest trends.

Pinterest photo of the outfit I love, I adore this look for fall using a slip style dress with lace or crochet accents, paired with oversized sweaters or flannels, tall socks and boots.  Then add lots of funky, cool boho chic accessories and you have a killer gypsy inspired look for fall or winter.

First up the dress under the sweater, this was an easy find. She is wearing the Free People voile lace trapeze dress.  Below is a link to this dress, it is available in many colors and the options are really endless.  If you look on the Free People website they have a section where they show you outfit ideas using this cute dress.  I am so excited to receive mine now that I have seen so many ways to wear it.  I love that it can be worn basically every season.  In the spring and summer as a dress of course, then in the fall with leggings, tall socks, and boots.  Winter layered with sweaters, flannels and accessorized with chunky scarves.  I really am happy I found these and for an amazing price (below).

Of course being the bargain shopper that I am I had to find less expensive alternatives, I have seen many cami style slip dresses, or dress extenders that are popular online right now for wearing under tunics and sweaters.  Most have a lace or crochet bottom, but I wanted that same look and feel.  After some searching,  I came across the above dress. They come in many colors.  Be sure to check the size chart and measure, Asian sizes can tend to run small.  This one, if measurements are on point, which I hope they are because usually when ordering from China or overseas I go with a XL, only a few times the item arrived huge usually they run really small.  I went with their size chart after measuring myself and ordered a large.  It should fit loose and have plenty of room.  Either way usually these international eBay sellers are really good about sending you out a replacement free of charge, usually just charging the postage. I ordered a white and mocha.

VoileWhiteLaceTrapezeDress Ebay $8.99

My dress came here is a photo of how it looks, just like the original style. My only advice always when ordering from China or Korea order a size or two larger, especially this dress you want it over sized to wear under sweaters. I went with a large and XL the XL is perfect for wearing with sweaters the Large is shorter and needs leggings or shorts under it. My Free People $20 crochet back sweater comes this week but found this cream and beige sweater at Walmart for under $10 in photos. They have lots of colors. Went with a XL to wear off the shoulder and tie side for similar look to above style.

How did I do for styling the look for less? Let me know what you think. I know a lot of people have this same look pinned on their Pinterest page and loved it, I got the dress for $8.99 and the sweater for under $10. Still have another color similar dress with lace bottom featured below on it's way and the same Free People crochet back sweater but in blue, gray and white tones for another styled look. Can't wait for them to arrive to share.

The above link is for the seller I purchased mine from, but if you search lace trapeze dress many sellers and options will pop up.  I am sure if you look on Amazon also you can find many sellers also.  I didn't have time to check Amazon only eBay.

The oversized sweater is also from Free People it is out of stock but can be found below for comparison

Still working on options for the sweater, found a few sellers on eBay selling same sweater pre worn for anywhere from $30-50 auction bid prices, but not in the cream only in a Blush pink color.  Hoping I will have some more options later today. Going to look for some other sites and brands that may have something that looks similar to the Free People sweater.  You can basically use any oversized sweater, and I think a thinner material would work nicely.  Excited I found a lace back cream/beige top in a small, but oversized and runs large so was reassured it will fit me no problem with plenty of room for the look I want.  It was up for buy it now at $26 or make an offer, I figured why not and offered the seller $20 since the sale was about to end with no buyers excited my offer was approved.  I wanted this sweater for several ideas to style it with but love that I have the items I really was drawn to on Pinterest now to put together a great fall look.  I have boots and sock already, along with lots of great boho chic and chunky fun jewelry to really dress up my look.

Love these socks and actually own them from last fall, they are the Fiddler socks by Free People.

Image result for free people fiddler socks
Sadly these are no longer in stock so had to search some again.
Found one pair of Charcoal but a little over priced. Must be since they are sold out.
I came across these peach socks on eBay
Then of course a large variety of tall cute lace trim and some with a fold over ruffle look, in many colors.  Don't want to bore you with the details so be sure to search eBay for Ruffle detailed tall boot socks, or over the knee ruffle top socks…

Have to get my girls going for some things we have planned but will be back later to finish up this post and add more finds for recreating this look.  Remember you should always add your own touches, that why I like that usually the items aren't available I like to pick out my own pieces to make the look mine.

Starting with the slip dress underneath.  Found a few styles that were similar but really like the below style and may even like it in black with a gray sweater, socks and black boots.

AdjustableDrawstringLaceTrimDress $6.58

Available in white and black.  Not exact but pretty close for a similar look.  Its always best to put your own twist on the outfit and that is what makes styling and fashion so fun, is seeing a style you love then making your own look with pieces you own or similar pieces that you love.  Always make sure to be you and make your own statement.

FreePeopleGraySweater eBay Auction

Right now you can get it for $10.50 but will most likely go up,  It is a size XS but you have so many options on ebay and I am sure Amazon probably has some, as well as other fashion sites.  Doesn't have to be Free People, try Forever 21 and H&M they have some amazing oversized trendy sweaters for amazing prices.

LaceUpOverTheKneeBoots $53.99

More outfit and accessory details coming, working on finding more boots, socks, awesome bohemian jewelry pieces, and other options for these looks for less.

Next up love these Moto skinny jeans for fall.  I have seen some really cute outfit ideas and was on the hunt for some affordable pairs.
I found several on eBay that I love, so went ahead and ordered a pair to see if I like the fit before I commit to ordering multiple colors.  I can't wait to style these with boots, sweaters, trapeze style tops, and long sleeve tees.

Xoxo ✌️❤️

Just a quick side note, I am in no way trying to sell anything, I am only adding links to the pieces I like to make it easier for readers to find the items and order if they want to. I use to always have links on most of my posts but since I had to use my cell phone to post for a while since my laptop was broken I could not add links and had to hand type web addresses. I had a lot of readers ask me to bring back the links so I have. Then a comment about the ads was made, the ads were always on the site just when I was using the mobile only app the desktop ones were disabled. Just recently they started using mobile ads also. I have removed the amount of ads and only have two areas for the ad campaign through google. I enjoy having the ads to shops and sites for readers, I try to make sure they use ads for places I shop and wear clothes from. Again the changes to my blog are small and I have not changed at all. I still dress the same and enjoy sharing my love for decor, fashion and bargain shopping. Hope everyone enjoys it and if anything please feel free to comment or message me. Ty so much to everyone for your continual support, means so much to me ✌️❤️ or message me. Ty so much to everyone for your continual support, means so much to me
