Pretty Spring Pillows

Amazing when decorating your home, if you want to just give a room a update, or if you are bored with the colors maybe even you just want to get in the mood for whatever season is in right now, pillows, rugs, accessories and throws can make a huge difference.  If you are like me, I get bored easy.  I am always changing rooms all over my house.  We have been here five years and I have changed the paint in almost every room at least twice some rooms even more.  I don't usually have a huge budget and a lot of my updates are done on a whim.  I decorate for almost every holiday, right now I have St. Patty's day but plan to change to Easter this weekend.  Spring has put me in the mood for color, lots of color.  I already have color in my daughter's bedrooms and bathroom, then my kitchen is a pumpkin orange that leads into the living room for a small accent wall, I have a red wall at entry way, then lots of orange, red, blue, green, and neutrals like beige, sand, cream and brown.  I am trying to get rid of brown, other then my sofa I want no brown.  I love bronze iron pieces and other then my bedroom and kitchen every room has brown bronze iron.  I love rustic, but I also like contemporary and love pieces with asian or moroccan even some indian flare.

I am in the process of painting a blue wall in dinning room, we have a gorgeous marble top dinning table from Haverty's with matching buffet.   I have a wine, Italian theme going, but have these amazing curtains with some blue and a rug with blue.  I found these gorgeous plates, chargers and linens for my table with blue accents so blue will be my accent color for dinning room.  I have to change a few things and I am currently looking for two gorgeous upholstered arm chairs for the head of the table.  I currently have 6 leather brown chairs I love but like I said I need color.  My bedroom is gray and my accents are blue and pink.  I have a lot of mirrored and antique pieces, right now a brown headboard with tufting and nail head trim, but we are purchasing a full bed since right now we have just the headboard and it will be gray.  Can't wait to finish, I am ordering a chandelier for my closet and painting it turquoise with white cabinets or closet organizers.  I saw great turquoise and white rugs one will be for the closet the other for the little dressing area between the bedroom, bathroom and walkin closet.  I plan to put up a small chandelier in the dressing area, with lots of mirrored candle holders, mercury glass and white hydrangeas maybe a few pink.  Keeping with the turquoise, gray and pink color scheme.  In my bedroom I am looking for silk gray curtains and a cool valance, I have a large sliding glass door and have a double rod so I like black out curtains then a pretty valance topper.

My master bathroom has gray tile, with white vanity.  I saw a great storage shelf with cabinet for beside the toilet I plan to purchase, then some white and gray chevron valances, one for the window and the other for above the shower glass doors.  The bathroom is painted a pretty blue so will keep that.  Right now I had blue and brown in there but I have to get rid of the brown, already removed the brown and blue curtain I had above the shower and looking for a good replacement.  I want gray towels in large, with blue chevron hand towels and then saw these amazing pink with floral organza material wash clothes then will tie them together with a pretty ribbon and add some hydrangeas to the bow for look only.  I have baskets that I use for spare toilet paper and extra towels on the floor, then on counter going to get crystal candle holders with pink, blue or gray candles.  I have a small basket for washclothes and soaps then a crystal jar for potpourri and lots of candles in clear votive holders.  Should look romantic and calming.

My living room will be a big challenge.  I have to get a large area rug with yellows, oranges, greens, blues, I like coral, and love turquoise so I am sure it will be something in those colors.  I already started buying fabric to recover some of the pillows I have already, I hate to get rid of things that are perfect and like new that I bought not that long ago.  I want a coral throw and maybe a printed one with all the colors.   I have several baskets, one is a trunk full of photo albums, the other is a large banana leaf basket filled with pillows and throws for movie night.  I am taking the gorgeous real silk gold colored curtains I have in my bedroom to put in living room, to brighten it since my curtains are brown and have a gorgeous coral and gold silk scarf to drape over top with gorgeous tie backs with all my favorite colors.  I am inspired by moroccan bright jewel tones so this will be an eclectic room for sure.  I have some gorgeous pillows I found on several websites.  From Target.com, Kirklands.com, Anthropologie.com, and Pier One.com.  Love all of them.  Also doing a photo family collage using old frames I plan to paint in my accent colors, then use either fabric or craft paper.  I will use photos, paintings, letters of all of our initials, probably just first name initials and then arrange them around a huge family photo we have already.  I also plan to add some nice bright candles and accessories, I have taken before photos and will add after.  We are in the process of shopping for a custom large sectional with huge ottomans that can all be pushed together to make a large almost bed so we can watch movies all laying together on family nights, something we love to do.  Right now we have a large sofa, loveseat and chair that all recline, but we have outgrown them in this home.  I also hate the glass coffee table, the large leather ottomans are more my taste and will only need one end table, which I plan to do marble top like our dinning set.  I can't wait to start, once vacation is over I will set a budget and step by step show you my DIY projects along with some other inexpensive ways to update rooms for under $150 for living room, $100 for dinning room, $50 for family room and my bedroom after bed will be around $150-200 for bedroom, bathroom and closet.  Only need to paint one wall in dining room and then painting my daughter's bedroom and stenciling my hall way.

Below are some of my favorite pillows for updating your rooms for inexpensive.  Remember if you own a sewing machine buying inexpensive fabric and making pillow covers is a great way to update if you already have pillows, and I have tons and tons of pillows lol.  I also cover books with craft paper to match for the coffee table or side tables.  Looks nice and adds pops of color, you can also add fabric or craft paper as borders in your frames.  I like to paint frames in the current accent colors I am using, usually starting with a white, black or bronze frame, painting the accent color then sanding down for a antiqued look.  I can't wait to start really showing off my creativity and passion for decorating.  I have a lot to show and am proud of my amazing home.  I have to say until I started getting endless compliments on my decor and people asking me where I got my paint, what color it was, where I got my decor from etc, I never realized how good I was at putting rooms together.  Looking forward to my new bed, chandelier, pillows, towels, rugs and then hopefully in the next few months sectional sofa.  Will be hard cause I know I want leather and the classic library looking style maybe with nail head trim on arms, almost library looking but will need to be custom cause we have a long but narrow living room.  Then an amazing accent chair and huge ottomans for coffee tables, so we can push everything in together and make a huge family size movie bed=).

Let me know what pillows you like and I will try to edit later which ones come from which stores.  A lot are from Target, Pier one and Kirklands.  Enjoy,

Meli

Another bed possibility torn between this one and the one I posted before.  I like the shape to this but can't find in King, was so mad that City Furniture had the exact bed I love, seen on Kourtney and Kim take Miami in Kourtney and Scott's rooms, she has cream and he has gray.  By the way Kim has my bedding from Target in the house they are in now on the show lol.

Some bedding I loved the colors of from Target.  Love Target they have some amazing decor right now

Tory Burch Flip Flops for Summer

I absolutely love Tory Burch. From the clothes, to the jewelry, of course the handbags but my all time favorite are the shoes. I love every pair I have invested in. I have never bought a pair full price, we have an outlet store fifteen to twenty minutes from where I live plus several other discount stores that sell this brand. I love Last Call by Neiman Marcus and Saks off the rack. They always have designer brands at discount and clearance prices. TJ Maxx and Marshall's are great for Coach, Michael Kors and Juicy but for Tory Burch, Prada and Burberry higher end brands these stores are the best.

Near my house we have a large outlet mall, Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise. Years ago they added a higher end outside part of the mall called the Colonade shops. When they first opened this there was a Coach store which at the time was my favorite, also Burberry and Ralph Lauren, they later added Juicy, Barney's, Michael Kors, Tory Burch and True Religion. I love all the stores and can't help myself once a month my hubby always tells me to splurge. I always pick up items on sale and clearance here or there but when he gives me the okay or sometimes he will go out then pick up something I have told him about and bring it as a gift, but other times he tells me that I deserve a treat so I hit this mall.

I thought I would be getting a watch today but instead I ordered a few Michael Kors and Juicy jewelry pieces then treated myself to these super comfy cute Tory Burch flip flops. I went with black so I can wear them with almost anything and picked silver hardware because my other Tory Burch shoes all have gold.

These were a steal at $26 on sale. I almost got two pairs because they had some orange ones that would match my new MK tangerine Hamilton bag but opted out since I got the jewelry and plan to grab a wallet to match my purse this weekend. I was limited on time and spent an hour in Marshall's then TJ Maxx. Had to buy my daughters a few summer clothes, shorts, tank tops and beach cover up sundresses. I had a fun day and can't wait for my new jewelry to come:). I ordered a silver beaded MK bracelet, some rose gold pave earrings, rose gold bracelet, gold and tortoise necklace and silver MK logo toggle necklace:). Also got a Fossil brown watch and Juicy rose gold pave crystal hoop earrings. Will have photos coming very soon. I have a wallet and some other items I am bidding on on eBay so fingers crossed:). Love to shop. Seriously addicted to shopping and fashion. From accessories to the clothes, makeup, hair stuff and nail polish of course.

Been a good girl and haven't bought a lot of nail polish recently because I am getting ready for vacation with swim suits, sun dresses, sandals, bright purses and jewelry:). I have a lot of cute things to post next week just have to get someone to take some photos for me.

Hope everyone has had an amazing week. I am struggling with sleep issues this week, think it is because of my allergies been stuffy and can't seem to kick it, makes it hard to breath. One week till vacation and I can't wait. Also have my favorite drinking holiday this weekend, St. Patty's day which means Irish parade and parties all weekend. Also going to see Joan Jett next week with my bestie she surprised me today and told me we are going. I asked her last month if she could go but she didn't know her husband works for same company as mine so his schedule is hard to predict but luckily she got free tickets and my mom I going to babysit. Can't wait:).

Enjoy my photos of my new flip flops, I know flip flops is she for real? I have two pairs of sandals by Tory Burch and living in South Florida I live in flip flops sandals are more formal for me lol. Have a dliteful end of your week, TGIF

Some amazing Michael Kors finds again at Marshall's

Today I went out to Sawgrass to get a pair of Tory Burch sandals and decided to pop into the Marshall's there to see what they had for purses. At first I didn't see much but after searching I found a lot of great finds.

The green and pink bag was only $159 saw the same bag in outlet for $249. Amazing price:). I have to say Marshall's and TJ Maxx have been scoring major shipments of MK lately. Below are some photos. I also have to say between these two stores and Homegoods if I could have a gift card for a minimal amount I could makeover many rooms in my home. It is amazing how much stuff they have for the home:).

Ipsy March 2013 beauty bag reveal

Ipsy beauty bag came today:). Love the "Great Escape" theme with navy/white nautical theme bag.

First item is Juice beauty organic hydrating mist. Love this to use during the summer at the beach:). Can't wait to try this one out have read some amazing reviews.

Second item is two eye shadow shades in little magnetic pods by Yaby.
One color is a neutral and the other is a pretty green/blue shade. They go with the Glam RX magnetic mirrored case that also came in the bag. I have been seeing a lot of these magnetic compacts and I think they are a clever idea. I like that we can put together our own color palette of shades we use to carry in purse so we don't have to carry tons of different little compacts. This is my other favorite item.

Last is LA Fresh towelettes for removing makeup and cleansing your face. Always like travel size facial towels. Looking forward to trying these out on vacation:).

I love the nautical bag and will be packing this for our vacation which is almost here. Can't wait for our great escape for ten days. Much needed vacation time. Enjoy the below photos and today my Birchbox did not arrive so thinking it will be here tomorrow.

Will have some more Michael Kors finds from TJ Maxx and Marshall's along with some decor items from Homegoods, Pier one, Target and Kirklands:). Happy mid week almost the weekend! Yay:).

Dlitefully yours Meli~

What is inside your bedside nightstand and on top?

I wanted to post a couple photos of my pillows I have for my bed. I posted some photos of some new fabrics and then some new colors I want to bring into the room. Right now I have a lot of blue, kind of a turquoise aqua blue and gray. I also love white and silver Asian pieces. I have foo dogs and lots of Buddhas.

My night stand is my favorite part of my room because I keep the essentials. What do you have in or on your night stand? I took the nightstand that has two drawers versus the one on hubby's side that has a drawer then a lower shelf. The bottom drawer has photos albums, heating pad, neck massager, a bath and body works back rubber/massager I force hubby to use one nights my back is killing me, a pair of soft fuzzy scented with lavender socks, some foot lotion, sleep hand cream and some lavender pouches for my pillow. Top drawer has medicine and vitamins in a child safety daily organizing container, reading glasses, nail file, eye cover for sleeping when needed, phone cases, my phone charger that I ran through back of the drawer, pen and notebook, retainer, lip balm, eye cream, cuticle oil, lavender spray, cute little feather(adult item) then an amazing Slumber parties 3 in 1 massage candle in earth angel scent. I'm sure there are more little things I forgot. I like to keep everything I can think of I may need before bed, in middle of the night or morning. I'm actually waiting for my dollar store to get the drawer organizer I have in my bathroom drawer. I also have a hair brush and some hair ties.

On top of night stand I have a lamp, I am a reader. I love to read as much as I enjoy writing, baking, blogging, decorating and photography. Every night after I shower and do my evening beauty routine I lay down with my five year old and read her versus from the bible. Right now we are reading up on the message behind Easter. We love to read together and it takes me back to my childhood being I was raised pretty strict catholic but attended a baptist school also.

After we read from the bible I usually read her a book of her choice then she usually will go to bed and that is when I read whatever book I happen to be into at the time, usually something I pick up at the library. I love suspense, thrillers, novels, art books, healthy eating and living books, interior design books and lately photography books:).

I have a silver Buddha I got as a present from my mom. I have two Buddhas on my dresser that are candle holders we got like eight years ago at target lol. I love Buddhas they make me think peace. I have a framed photo from my wedding, and one of my daughters, my favorite bath and body works candle in a silver holder and a white owl, I love owls all my friends and family buy me owl stuff lol. It's like Pepe the skunk stuff I use to collect all his stuff when I was younger even had a Pepe and Penelope cake topper.

I also have a cute little wooden phrase plaque I got from one of my dear and amazing friends that says "well behaved women have no fun". Lol. Back when she gave it to me we use to always be going out dancing and having fun, I would feel bad leaving my kids home and she use to tell me well behaved women have no fun.

I will post a few photos of my items in night stand and the pillows I love. Working on a post with some ideas for colors, accents and other things for my master bedroom and bathroom along with my living room. I'm trying to get rid of the brown. I have always used brown as my neutral and then would build around the brown, beige, tab and cream color with some accent colors. Now I'm trying to get rid of brown and do a lot of pops of color. It's enough to have a brown leather large sectional but then brown in pillows, rugs, decor and accents is too much. I want to paint a wall bright turquoise and already have a red wall and a orange wall. I have been feeling inspired. Something clicked in me a couple of weeks ago and decided to take frustration I had, turn it into energy for pursing my passions. Photography, writing, baking and decorating:). Also shopping lol.

Enjoy photos and will be posting more very soon. Yee, Birchbox and Ipsy should arrive today:).
