Mount Dora Antique Extravagnaza

Today was one of my favorite days since we have moved up to northern Florida. It was the day of the antique extravaganza that we had planned to attend since the fall one the first or second weekend of Nov.  There are over 700 vendors on the hill behind Renninger’s antique market located in Mt. Dora Florida. Normally this market that has a joining flea and farmers market. I love going for a regular weekend treasure hunt but this is one of the biggest antique events in my area.

Before we had planned to go I made a list of things I’m hunting for. Of course I want to finish or add to my milk glass collection especially more rare blue milk glass pieces. I also have been collecting antique frames and looking for the perfect mirror for above our antique fireplace surround which I purchased during the fall extravaganza. I love blue glass bottles, crates, frames and unique signs or tins. I’m also into old wooden kitchen pieces like rolling pins and mashers.

Today we went dressed comfortably in my most comfy sneakers, light Capri length jeans and a tank top with light weight longer sleeve top for layering or removing if I was to get hot. Last time it was cold in the morning so I wore a pair of black jeans, boots and a sweater that I had a tank under in case I was hot. The black jeans were awful it got so hot in the areas  that aren’t shaded that I was baking and then of course my boots hurt my feet awful this day when before they never bothered me.

We walked miles and hiked up the hills then back down. Of course down hill is always easy but every drop we made it knew I would be climbing back up soon. My main hunt today was some apothecary units, oval or rectangular ornate mirror for over the fireplace and then always look for vintage glass whether old blue glass or milk glass both have important special memories or meaning attached to the search.

I didn’t see much today and feel the vendors are becoming a bit repetitive and over priced. You can find more special pieces for good deals when you go on the regular days or the flea market garage sale section. I was a bit disappointed but I did have fun seeing some of the highly priced pieces that I really loved just the cost was way out of my range.

I’m sure we will continue to go to this event just because we love to come across unique finds and pieces with stories. For us we enjoy the hunt to hear the stories and make the connections with the sellers or even other customers when we are wandering around.

Next time I hope to find the perfect mirror if I have not found one before then, and I love it cause the weather so amazing this time of year and the next one is end of Feb so should be cooler still. Have a great weekend and check my insta story for a video of one of the popular tents which I like hobby lobby all reproduction pieces.

Off to eat at our favorite place, PizzAmore in downtown Mount Dora, be sure to try the bruschetta garlic knots, they are so good. Peace love and light always
